The lady doth protest too much, methinks

Hi friends,

What a day! I am absolutely shattered.

Got up early as usual, made vegetarian sushi for breakfast-cum-lunch. Then, went to the local post office to send 3 parcels. After that, went to Stratford (again) for this!
Hamlet at Royal Shakespeare Theatre.  Hurrah!

However, I missed quite a lot of the play. It was heart breaking missing all those famous phrases. Hamlet without “to be or not to be” is like having a curry not containing turmeric.

I had a problem with my car, as you can see.
When I arrived at the car park near the theatre, I opened the window to get a ticket from the machine and everything was normal as far as I could see. Then I noticed that there was something wrong with the window. I could not close it. Damn x 3!!

Luckily I receive the AA road assistance from my bank as part of their premium service as well as insurance for frauds and such. I have to pay monthly fee, but as it was my second time to call them for the road assistance, it was worth paying after all. And notably, ladies, the AA chap was cute. ;-p

It was worse than we originally thought and it took the whole 1 hour to fix the window. The AA chap told me to go to shops rather than waiting in the cold weather, so I went to Costa to get coffee. However I could not drink coffee in a warm shop whilst the chap was working outside, could I?  I got 1 cappuccino & 1 latte and went back to the car.

To be honest, no matter how cold it was, I prefer watching the inside of the door assembly than staying in a coffee shop. I am a well-known geek when it comes to vehicles body structure. It was very entertaining to look at the parts inside the door.  I have never thought that inner parts (such as door beams) were painted as beautifully as the skin panels. It is quite understandable as the parts need to be protected from corrosion but it was still refreshing to see painted inner parts

Anyway, after the lovely AA chap fixed  the door temporarily (not repairable and it will cost me arms and legs to replace the whole mechanism of the electric window….bye bye my Summer Holiday) I dashed off to the theatre and found out I missed the first half of the play completely. What a day!

The view from my seat was like this. Not too bad as it was Row A (the front row).

Sadly the interpretation and the actors were pretty average. Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet played by Mark Lockyer and off course Sir Nigel Hawthorne in King Lear were, without doubt, the best acts I have watched at RST in the last 18 years.

PS: Becky in Mary's Salon, you are a gem. Thank you for helping me today despite the late time.
